Happy national legal assistant day
DeMine Immigration celebrates three legal assistants
FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 14, 2025) – DeMine Immigration Law Firm celebrates its three legal assistants; Krystal Gutierrez, Mabel Diaz and Valeria Santoyo in honor of National Legal Assistant Day on March 14.
Legal assistants are critical to the success of the legal team here at DeMine Immigration. All three of DeMine Immigration’s legal assistants are fluent in Spanish and English and they offer unwavering support to our attorneys, especially with translations in client meetings.
Their responsibilities include carrying out legal and confidential tasks, assisting attorneys in preparing case packets and translations, meeting with and supporting clients, reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of legal documents, preparing forms and providing support under the guidance of the supervising paralegal. The large number of cases filed and approvals achieved is a direct result of their hard work, preparation and dedication to our clients.
“On this legal assistant's day, I want to express my deepest gratitude to our three outstanding legal assistants,” said President Indera DeMine. “Your dedication, compassion and meticulous work play a vital role in helping our clients achieve their dreams of legal status in the United States. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to changing lives and strengthening families.”
Krystal Gutierrez has been in the legal assistant role since April 2024. She has been with the firm since November 2023, starting as an intern during her time studying for her bachelor’s degree in legal studies from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). Since starting at the firm, Gutierrez has graduated from FGCU and has future aspirations to attend law school.
As the firm’s Lehigh Acres office grows, she has demonstrated her flexibility and commitment by recently helping with its removal defense cases under the guidance of Indera DeMine. Gutierrez is currently learning from the removal defense team: Emmanuella Casimir, associate attorney of removal defense, and paralegal Arelda Ambrocio.
“My favorite part of being a legal assistant is being a part of the process of helping clients gain legal status,” said Gutierrez. “I also love that it is a learning experience where I get to learn something new everyday.”
Mabel Diaz started as a legal assistant with the firm in February 2024. With an immigrant and legal background from Colombia as well as experience in real estate, she brings an expertise in business and human communication that helps her to excel in her role.
In Colombia, Diaz studied law and worked at a legal clinic before becoming an attorney. She practiced for a year before starting her move to the U.S. In the future, Diaz aspires to attend American law school and become a U.S. attorney.
Valeria Santoyo is our firm’s newest legal assistant, starting at DeMine Immigration in September 2024. She immigrated from Mexico and recently obtained her U.S. citizenship.
Growing up, Santoyo always dreamed of a career in law. She is currently studying political science and legal studies at FGCU with the hopes of becoming an attorney. Initially, she wanted to go into criminal law, but after joining DeMine Immigration Law Firm her focus has shifted to immigration law, allowing her to help clients in meaningful ways.
